Future of Bluetooth Technology

By Oliver Jude of Dot Com Infoway

With technological development, it has become out dated to use devices which are still connected via cables or wires. Electronic devices are considered worth using only if they are handy, portable and connected through some wireless mechanism. So here is where Bluetooth plays its role. Bluetooth is a short range radio technology using by which communication between internet devices can be simplified.

Bluetooth has been in the market for many years. However, many began knowing about the technology only very recently. Normally, Bluetooth has a range of 30 feet or more depending on its version. The latest version has a range of over 100 feet. The only difference between an ordinary electronic device and a Bluetooth enabled device is that the latter, say, for example, a computer, is connected with the keyboard, mouse and the monitor without any cable. This not only completely eliminates the congestion that is normal with cables, but also makes the whole system more sophisticated and easy to handle.

The credit for introducing the Bluetooth technology first should go to Ericsson and later the products were jointly developed by Ericsson, Nokia, IBM, Intel and Toshiba. Bluetooth was founded in September 1998. This technology was given this peculiar name in remembrance of the Danish King Harald Bluetooth who reunited Scandinavia with Europe when the former was detached during the war. Bluetooth technology was developed first in Scandinavia. Bluetooth-enabled products cannot just be produced and marketed, but each and every Bluetooth-enabled product would have to be checked and verified by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group before the launch of the product. So this is how the various mobile phones and computers are connected with each other.

Though Bluetooth was expected to be in existence only for a couple of years after its launch, it is seen that it continues to work fine for years and it is now expected to have a longer life. In fact, Bluetooth has improved both technically and application-wise a lot especially during the past couple of years and is continued to be used on a vast scale and it has been taking giant leaps. The fame of Bluetooth has spread widely and is expected to rule the industry at least for one more decade.
